Meeraben’s Inspiring Journey

In 2006, Meeraben’s daughter, Yogita, joined Sanchetana, leading to transformative changes within their family. Meeraben became a Community Development Volunteer (CDV) in 2010 after benefiting from our health programs that provided valuable insights into menstrual health, hygiene, disease prevention, and gender inequalities. This newfound awareness empowered her to break away from the tradition of child marriages, ensuring her daughters’ brighter futures. Her association with Sanchetana exposed Meeraben to new experiences, from cultural events to trips to places like Parvati hills and Kutch. More importantly, it instilled self-confidence in her. Today, she confidently addresses community issues related to water and sewage, advocating alongside fellow women. Meeraben also ventured into entrepreneurship with Sanchetana’s support, obtaining a Rs. 10,000 loan through our capital assistance program in 2015–16 to establish a business producing bleach and washing powder. This venture transformed her into a self-reliant woman, enabling her to provide financial support to her family and secure proper marriages for her daughters. Grateful for the life-changing support she received, Meeraben now intends to involve her daughter-in-law in Sanchetana’s programs. She views Sanchetana as a guiding parent that bestowed upon her self-dependence and dignity.
